Sophie Churchill

Sophie has more than 15 years of experience across several aspects of the food system including research, farming, food hub operations, farm to school, grant writing, and program management. She holds a Masters degree in Sociocultural Anthropology from KU Leuven with a specialization in the anthropology of food and is currently working towards a Masters in Sustainable Food Systems from Arizona State University. Her most recent roles have been serving as a AmeriCorps FoodCorps Food Education member where she taught elementary students in Cedar Rapids about nutrition education and gardening and as a Program Manager at a non-profit in the local food system where she collaborated with food hubs, food banks, producers, schools, and other non-profits. She is passionate about building resiliency across the food system and connecting people with their food through outreach, education, program development, and policy work. Her experiences have led her to prioritize uplifting local producers and promote local food as a Communication & Education Coordinator at Cultivate: Local Food Connections.
