I grew up on a farm in Central Iowa where I learned all about my food and where it comes from. I completed my bachelor's degrees in International Studies and Anthropology from the University of Iowa and have a Master’s in Sociocultural Anthropology from KU Leuven in Belgium.

I studied the anthropology of food, which led me to become interested in sustainable agriculture, school nutrition, and food policy, and being a conscious consumer. I recently finished a service term with FoodCorps where I taught K-3 grades about food and gardening and I now work on local food grants. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, traveling, and gardening.
