We believe that building a resilient local food system starts with investing in the people who grow our food. Through our Farm to Table for ALL program, every purchase we make has a dual impact: it provides healthy, local food to neighbors experiencing food insecurity while helping keep local farms economically viable.
In 2025, many producers were impacted by the loss of the USDA Local Food Purchase Assistance (LFPA) program. Farm to Table for ALL was created to help fill that gap by continuing to connect local farms with community food access programs through fair, transparent purchasing.
Our Purchasing Philosophy
We are committed to purchasing in ways that are fair, transparent, and responsive to the needs of local producers.
For high-quality, market-ready products, we purchase using fair market pricing informed by the former USDA LFPA pricing guidance and current regional market conditions. Our goal is to ensure farmers receive prices that reflect the true value of their products while allowing our nonprofit to maximize community impact.
Market Pricing
We also purchase "seconds" at wholesale or bulk pricing. While these fruits and vegetables may not meet retail appearance standards, they are still nutritious and perfectly suitable for processing into meals, frozen products, prepared foods, or pantry distributions.
Purchasing seconds helps farmers reduce on-farm food waste, creates an additional revenue stream for products that might otherwise go unsold, and allows us to stretch our funding to provide even more local food throughout our community.
