I grew up in Northeast Iowa on an acreage surrounded by farmland. While not farmers, we spent many hours outdoors, with pet goats, dogs, cats, bunnies, and chickens, in addition to gardens both floral and edible.

I moved to Des Moines for law school and have made it home for the past 15 years. I joined the board of directors of a local food systems non-profit organization about 10 years ago and developed a passion for this work.

I currently work as an attorney at Principal and volunteer with various boards of directors. I live in Johnston with my family and two bossy corgis.
